This is an occasion for a friendly get together\, and to express our thanks in particular\, for the support given by Consorts and to celebrate the achievements of women! \nOur guest speaker\, Past Master Dame Fiona Woolf\, DBE\, DStJ\, DL\, will be giving a speech at the Luncheon entitled “Lord Mayor or Lady Mayor?” \n  \nTo Book: If you wish to attend\, please book your ticket through this website (using the purchasing form at the bottom of this page) before Friday 5th September (after which date no refunds can be issued). Please note: Tickets for this event are available only to Court Consorts and their guests. \n  \nA Brief History of Cutlers’ Hall: \nCutlers’ Hall is the home of the Worshipful Company of Cutlers. The word “Cutler” signifies a maker or seller of knives and weapons with a cutting edge and later the emphasis shifted from implements of war to cutlery and domestic items such as razors and scissors. \nThe earliest recorded reference to Cutlers’ Hall dates from 1285; it is the fifth of their buildings erected in 1882 – its former hall having been demolished when its land was acquired by the Metropolitan and District Railway. It had itself replaced an earlier building destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. \nThe present building contains on the outside of the wall facing Warwick Lane a finely carved terracotta frieze by the Sheffield sculptor Benjamin Creswick. The most prominent feature of the entrance hall is a stained-glass window erected in memory of Captain F.G. Boot a great benefactor of the company. It shows Henry V granting the company its original Charter in 1416. The Court Room contains portraits of company members who served as Lord Mayor of London and a Coat of Arms which survived the Great Fire. Its stunning Livery Hall boasts a splendid Victorian hammerbeam roof. Around the walls are shields carried by members of the court in the Lord Mayor’s processions in 1834 and 1984 when company members were elected as Mayor.

SUMMARY:Lord Mayor's Show 2024
DESCRIPTION:All Liverymen\, Freemen and their guests are encouraged to attend the Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday 9th November 2024. \nThe Lord Mayor’s Show is an annual event that dates back more than 800 years and is a highlight of the City of London calendar. \nThe original purpose of this historic event was to welcome the new Lord Mayor\, and to “show” them to the people of the City. During the procession the Lord Mayor will swear an oath of allegiance to the sovereign at the Royal Courts of Justice. \nThe Show will include marching bands\, City livery companies – some in traditional outfits\, modern businesses\, alongside community groups\, schools\, and charities. Usually over 7\,000 people\, 200 horses\, and around 150 groups and floats take part in a three mile-long procession to mark the Lord Mayor’s first full day in office. \nOur Master\, Senior and Junior Warden will walk in the procession. \nFor more information contact the Clerk.

DESCRIPTION:Liverymen are summoned to appear at Guildhall on Monday\, 30th September by 11.45am for the Election of the Lord Mayor.  Tickets are required and will be signed by the Clerk. \nThe Master will be processing with other Livery Masters and is required to wear his gown and badge. Any other Liverymen are not required to wear their gowns but need to be seated by 11.30am. \nLiverymen who attend Common Hall need to have been a member of the Company prior to 31st May 2023 and must be registered in the Electoral Services Register. Any Liverymen who are not on the register will not be eligible to vote and will be required to sit in the public gallery. \nLuncheon at Painters’ Hall\nAfter the Election\, the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers are holding a three-course luncheon at Painters’ Hall\, 9 Little Trinity Lane\, London\, EC4V 2AD to which a number of Livery Companies are again invited.  Numbers are strictly limited. Liverymen from the Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants (and their guests) may apply for places at an all-in price of £75 per person (inclusive of wine and VAT).  Tickets will not be issued for the luncheon. \nA Calling Notice has been issued by the Clerk. Liverymen wishing to attend should complete the form and return it to the Clerk no later than Friday 20th September 2024.
