SUMMARY:Installation Court General Sale
DESCRIPTION:The Company will be holding its Installation Court General at Fishmongers’ Hall on Friday\, 23rd October 2026 at 4.00 p.m. \nAt the Court General\, those qualified Freemen who have indicated their intention on the online form will be admitted to the Livery. Following this\, the Master-Elect\, Mr Kevin Fenlon\, together with the Wardens and other officers\, will be installed for the ensuing year. \nBy tradition\, we then enjoy our Annual Livery Dinner.  The Master and Wardens will welcome all Liverymen and guests at 6.15 pm for a Reception in the Court Drawing Room.  Dinner will commence in the Banqueting Hall at 7.15 pm.  We are delighted that members of The Company of Pikemen and Musketeers will be performing their traditional ceremonial guard and the Beckenham & Penge Sea Cadets their Carpet Guard. \nGuest Speaker \nOur Honoured Guest Speaker will be James Thomson CBE\, non-executive Chairman and former Chief Executive of MJ Gleeson plc\, Common Councillor for the Ward of Walbrook\, Past Master Grocer\, Freeman of the Chartered Accountants’ Company\, Board Member of City Bridge Foundation\, Governor of the Board of Governors and former Chair of the City of London School\, Deputy Chair and former Chair of the City of London Police Authority Board. \nDress \nGentlemen: Black Tie with Decorations and Livery Badges \nLadies: equivalent will be long\, or below the knee dresses or skirts\, or evening trousers. \nTickets \nDinner tickets will cost £205 per head\, and this will include all wines both at the Reception and Dinner. \nBookings must be received no later than Wednesday\, 14th October 2026 after which no refund is permitted for non – attendance. \nDue to the Hall’s capacity limitations\, we kindly ask members to that only TWO tickets are purchased (Liveryman+1 guest). \nHowever\, please bear in mind there will be ample space available for our 50th Anniversary celebration\, marking the Grant of Livery\, at the magnificent Mansion House on July 19th\, 2027. \nInfo on Hotels for overnight acccomodation:  \nThe Master Kevin Fenlon and family are staying at: Apex City of London Seething Lane London EC3N 4AX \nPreferential rates at the Leonardo Hotel at St Paul’s available – see more info in members section of the website. \nMain Attractions: \nHistoric Venue within the City of London  \nThe Worshipful Company of Fishmongers\, which ranks fourth in precedence of the twelve great Livery Companies of the City of London\, is amongst the oldest with an unbroken heritage of more than 700 years. The Fishmongers of London were in existence long before Edward I granted them their first charter in 1272 for control of fish sales\, markets and quality and still has strong links with the fishing industry. During World War II it suffered great damage\, however most of the original structure survived and most of the records and treasures had been moved to safety. Post-war restoration took fourteen years and was completed by H. Austen Hall. One of its treasures includes a 1684 carved wooden statue of Sir William Walworth\, the famous Fishmonger who in 1381\, as Lord Mayor of London\, ended the Peasants’ Revolt by stabbing Wat Tyler in the presence of Richard II. The dagger he used is also on show. Pietro Annigoni’s well-known first portrait of Her Majesty The Queen hangs gracefully in the Court Drawing Room and the Company has an impressive collection of 17th- and 18th-century silver\, an embroidered 15th-century funeral pall\, portraits by George Romney and river scenes by Samuel Scott. The imposing Banqueting Hall\, designed in 1831 – 35 with its high curved ceiling\, glittering with gold and its commanding portraits of royalty and past Prime Wardens\, shimmering chandeliers and historic coats of arms. \nThe Company of Pikemen and Musketeers \nThe Company of Pikemen & Musketeers is a ceremonial sub-unit of The Honourable Artillery Company (‘The HAC’)\, the oldest regiment in the British Army\, which traces its origins back to a charter granted by King Henry VIII in 1537. \nThe Pikemen & Musketeers are uniformed and equipped as members of The HAC were in the 1640s. Governed by a Royal Warrant from the late HM The Queen\, the Company is tasked with providing a ceremonial bodyguard for the Lord Mayor of the City of London\, when on official business. This includes escorting the State Coach during the Lord Mayor’s Show and forming carpet guards for state banquets and dinners at Guildhall and Mansion House. The Company also provides guards for dinners at livery halls\, at Armoury House\, the regimental headquarters of the HAC\, and provides displays of 17th century arms drill\, both at home and overseas. \nOnly veteran members with proven efficient service in The HAC’s Army Reserve Regiment are eligible to join the Company \nCarpet Guard provided by our affiliation Beckenham & Penge Sea Cadets\, part of the UK’s oldest nautical youth charity\, giving young people qualifications and experience such as sailing\, windsurfing\, rock climbing\, camping and music to enhance teamwork\, self-confidence\, commitment and self-discipline. \nMusical Entertainment by London Banqueting Ensemble \nThe London Banqueting Ensemble was founded in 2002 by musician Steve Fletcher\, a former military musician who served as principal trumpeter with the Band and Orchestra of the Royal Artillery.
