The annual Carol Service was held on the 10th December at the Tower of London in the historic Chapel Royal of St Peter Ad Vincula, conducted by the Reverend Roger Hall. Queen Anne Bolyen and many others are buried in the Chapel and the impressive pipe organ is decorated in wood carvings by Grinling Gibbons. The Service was well attended by over 80 people, including the Master, Past Masters, Wardens, Liverymen and Freemen, partners and friends. The strong choir of the Chapel Royal of St Peter Ad Vincula was superb as usual in leading the Christmas Carols.
Following the Service, members walked to the Watermen’s Hall nearby to enjoy a reception of mulled wine or champagne, followed by a delicious two course meal accompanied by more wine. The event got everyone mingling and into the festive spirit. It was also the birthday of the Master’s wife Beverly Hopkins. A special birthday cake was presented to Beverly at the dinner, and was enjoyed by all.
This year’s Carol Service is on the 9th December followed by Dinner at the Watermen’s Hall – a date for your diaries!
