Grants and Funding

The Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants offers grants and funding to help individuals from within the builders’ merchants industry, and those looking to enter it, to access training and education.

This is part of our Livery’s key objective to support further education and training within the industry.

Individuals can access grants of up to £2,000 each to help them fulfil their career ambitions, and to encourage companies to provide an environment in which their employees can learn and develop.

The grants are available to those looking to join our sector, existing employees who want to further their careers, or companies who demonstrate how funding will be beneficial to the ongoing development of their teams.

As a charitable organisation, grants from the WCoBM are subject to strict oversight by the Charities’ Commission.

Once approved, the grant can be used to partially or fully support the following:

The purchase of relevant materials that enable learning e.g. computer equipment, software or practical tools

• Apprenticeship programmes

• Dedicated qualifications, modules, training platforms or courses that are proven to contribute to further learning or development within the building materials sector

• Dedicated work experience that allows for relevant training and new learning within the industry to support role development

Other requests are considered on case-by-case basis.

The funding is open to:

• School Leavers

• College or University graduates

• Students or Apprentices

• Employees working in the sector

• Building materials suppliers
