The Company held its annual golf day at Tandridge Golf Club in Surrey on Wednesday 18th April. The day was organised by Liveryman Edwin Ray, with Master Graham Ballinger, presenting prizes.
Players included the Master, Past Masters Martin Earle, Roddy Taylor and Ken Pepperrell, Court Assistants Brian Blanchard and Leo Martin, Liverymen Mike Tattam, Roger Howard, Alun Roberts, John Griffiths, David Pearce and Bob Budd, Freeman Paul Hetherington, and guests. The event started with an evening meal the night before hosted by Edwin and his wife Audrey at their home in Caterham. The following morning it was clear the weather wasn’t going to be kind so, armed with appropriate waterproofs (Past Master Ken models it well in the photo), the players set off for 18 holes of golf.
Liveryman Mike Tattam took first prize with 35 points, a gross 79. The runner up was Past Master Martin Earle with 34 points. The Guest Prize went to David Stanley on 33 points.
The event has been organised by Edwin for approximately 30 years. Sadly, Edwin confirmed that this would be his last year as organiser. We would like to thank Edwin for all his efforts over the years – his contribution will be missed. Next year’s event will be organised by Past Masters Roddy Taylor and Martin Earle.
