The Ceremony took place in London on 17th October at Vintners’ Hall, the Livery Hall where the Vintners’ Company – one of the ‘Great Twelve’ Livery Companies – is based. Paul Hetherington, Managing Director of Alumasc; John Sinfield, Managing Director of Knauf Insulation; Fiona Russell-Horne, Editor of BuildersMerchantsJournal.net; David Anderson, Managing Director of Rixonway Kitchens; Andrew Murphy, Sales & Marketing Director of Lafarge Cement UK; and Andrew Williams, Managing Director of Jackson Building Centres are the latest members to join the Livery Company. Members first become a Freeman of the Company and are awarded the Freedom of the City before becoming a Liveryman, the final step in the process. Membership is by invitation only.
The Company was founded over 50 years ago and this year received its Royal Charter. Currently it has 198 Liverymen and 22 Freemen. It plays a key part in our industry, promoting training and education for builders’ merchants and fundraising for a number of charities. It is also very active in raising the industry’s profile in the City at a crucial time when the industry is trying to get the message accepted that ‘Getting Britain Building’ is vital to getting Britain’s economy growing again.
The Master, Andrew Day, comments: “Our Company is a premier networking platform for members where senior industry people meet at events organised throughout the year. We are pleased to welcome the new Liverymen to our Company and hope they will take part in future events and actively support our objectives.”
