Our Livery expands with new members

Our Livery continues to grow with nine new Liverymen and ten new Freemen this year. Five new Liverymen were admitted at the Election Court General on 18th April. Congratulations to you all.

In October, four Liverymen were installed (L-R): Darren Digby of Digby Trading Ltd; Arthur Duffy of NetPlan; Richard Skinner of Chandlers’ Building Supplies; Stephen Boyer of Marsh Industries.

In addition, General the Lord Dannatt and Alderman Dr. Andrew Parmley became Honorary Liverymen.

IIn April, six more members were installed as Liverymen (L-R): Tony Smith of Courtney Smith Group; Robert Munson of Robert Munson of R Dunn & Sons; Jennie Ward of Builders’ Merchants News; Vic Patel of Independent Buying Consortium (IBC); Stephen Dunkley of Aliaxis Building Solutions; Charles Ledigo of Reisser Ltd.

At the Election Court General, the Master also had the pleasure of welcoming Honorary Dame Fiona Woolf, DBE as an Honorary Liveryman.

Being accepted as a Freeman of the WCoBM is the first step on the path to becoming a Liveryman. Freemen are awarded the Freedom of the City at a special ceremony at Guildhall before they are installed as Liverymen.

Other Member news.

We congratulate Liveryman Andy Williamson on becoming a Court Assistant. Andy is Group MD of IKO plc and has been a Liveryman of the Company since 2008. His advancement to Court Assistant sets him on the path to becoming Master, subject to election. Andy is an active member of the Livery Company and a leading figure in our industry, which will stand him in good stead as he prepares for this significant role.

Last but not least, huge congratulations to Liveryman Peter Stephens, Managing Director of John A Stephens Ltd.
In the New Year Honours list 2016 he received an MBE for Services to Business and the Community in Nottingham.
