The Maddie Rose Campaign was set up earlier this year in the memory and celebration of the life of Maddie Durdant-Hollamby, an inspirational young woman who was dedicated to showcasing the aspirational careers in the sector she cared for so passionately.
The campaign, in partnership with the Construction Youth Trust (CYT), aims to inspire diverse young talent and help school students discover the rewarding careers in building materials supply that will enable them to achieve their full potential. It is gaining widespread momentum and shining a spotlight on the incredible career opportunities in the supplier and merchanting sectors, as well as the wider construction and built environment.
A key part of the Campaign is the development of a ‘Hidden Careers Programme’ that engages with schools, helping students to learn about our industry and the breadth of roles, and open doors to work experience and apprenticeship opportunities.
Over £50,000 has already been raised for the Maddie Rose Campaign, thanks to the generosity of Maddie’s friends, family and wider industry.
Maddie’s Day
To continue the good work of the CYT and all those involved, the campaign is going yellow on the 22nd of September for Maddie’s Day.
We are reaching out to all our Freemen and Liverymen to join in on this important day by turning your social media channels yellow and/or adopting the Maddie Rose campaign logo.
By going yellow, we are not only helping to keep Maddie’s legacy alive but also continuing to build awareness about our industry and the support available to all other passionate young people.
A dedicated media pack has been developed by CYT to encourage the industry to #GetInvolved and #SpreadTheWord about the campaign and Maddie’s Day. These include social media assets, flyers, QR code and more.
