WCoBM joins Livery Climate Action Group

Our Livery Company has become a member of the Livery Climate Action Group.

The Group was set up in 2021, inspired by the City of London Corporation’s Climate Action Strategy. The strategy aims for the City to be net zero by 2040; for buildings, public spaces and infrastructure to be resilient to climate change; and for people in the City and beyond to benefit from a clean, green and safe environment.

The new Climate Action Group encourages City Livery Companies to grow their knowledge and expertise in the practical measures they can take towards a sustainable, adaptable and resilient future. It also provides a platform for Livery Companies to contribute to the Climate Action Strategy by drawing from the resources available such as guidance notes, action plans and other educational materials, to influence their associated professions and trades and engage with schools and other outreach activities.

Our Master Andy Williamson comments: “This is a significant development for our Livery Company and supports our objectives, and those of the merchanting industry, to strive for a more sustainable and green future.

“We are fortunate to represent a sector where we can draw on many great examples of environmental best practice, which is why three years ago we introduced our ‘Caring for the Environment Award’ to our annual City & Awards Luncheon. Joining the Climate Action Group gives us the opportunity to contribute our knowledge to the platform, as well as support and spread awareness of the City’s Climate Action Strategy and its key aims.”
