Speaking of his joining the Company, David Grace said: “It was an honour for me to recently be invited to join as a Freeman of the Livery. I look forward to contributing in any way that I can back to an industry that has given me so much and assisting the Livery in its charitable pursuits [and at] the upcoming events.”
David Millward said: “My builders’ merchanting career began in the yard as a 17-year-old on a Youth Opportunities scheme at Ferguson Foster, which has now become Jewson after many changes of ownership. Forty-one years after bagging that first bag of sand, I am as enthusiastic as ever and still loving the industry and the brilliant networking relationships.”
Martin Moran added: “It is an honour to be put forward and recognised to become a Liveryman. I work for our family builders’ merchants [and] hope to build new and stronger relationships with my fellow Liverymen. I want to thank too everyone who has made me very welcome for all the effort on the day of the ceremony and leading up to it.”
Master Alan Hawkins said: “One of the most enjoyable things about my year as Master is being able to welcome new Freemen and Liverymen into the Company, especially as part of such an active Livery that represents so many who remain active in the builders’ merchant industry. I’m delighted that our Company is continuing to grow and expand, especially as we were recently granted permission to increase our maximum numbers to 300.”
