Call for Materials for Speech and Language UK

Speech and Language UK’s project aims to introduce a practical Painting and Decorating course for KS4 and Sixth Form students as part of the Building and Construction curriculum, thereby supporting the educational and vocational development of young individuals in Building Studies.

The following specific materials are requested from our Liverymen:

Material Needed and Donation Arrangements:

  • Woodchip wallpaper – 6 rolls
  • Lining paper – 10 rolls
  • Other wallpapers (Half/Full rolls) 10 rolls
  • Water based paint (emulsion – not less than 2 litres)
  • White Emulsion 20 litres or more, Grey emulsion 10 litres, Magnolia Emulsion 20 litres.
  • Gloss or Satin paint for woodwork – 10 litres
  • Undercoat for woodwork – 5 litres
  • Paint trays –  Half dozen
  • Paint brushes – Would like some cutting in brushes (6) and Brush packs with different sizes
  • Paint rollers – 6 with handles, would also like a couple of extension handles too for ceiling work.
  • Painting tins to decant paint into – 6+
  • Step tressles (For standing on) – 3 (One for each team)
  • Scrapers – 6
  • Wallpaper pasting brushes – Have two but could use extras
  • Wallpaper smoothing brushes – Have two but could use extras
  • Seam rollers
  • Plumbob lines
  • Spirit levels – Need 2 more (60cm or 1metre length)
  • Plastering floats 12″ – would like at least 2
  • Shovels for mixing concrete – 2
  • Strong buckets for carrying cement, etc. – 2
  • Digging bar – 1
  • Spade – 2
  • Pipe wrenches – 2
  • Boss white/blue jointing compound
  • Plasterers mixing tub -1
  • Plasterers mixing tools – 1
  • Sledge hammer – 1
  • Lump hammer – 2
  • Large 50 gallon steel sealable drums to keep cement/plaster dry
  • Large yard brush – 2
  • Electric Cement mixer – 1
  • Workmate or tressles for cutting timber etc. – 2
  • Bags of browning
  • Bags or finishing plaster/skim
  • Lengths of wood for setting up forming, eg, 2 x 2 to make ground pegs
  • Hand saws – 2
  • Any building-related hand tools.
