Master runs in style in Annual Livery Pancake Race

The popular Inter-Livery Pancake Race took place in February at Guildhall Yard. Our Master achieved a creditable joint third place running in stylish brogues!

Organised by the Poulters’ Company, it’s a fun and colourful event. Entrants can enter in their regalia or fancy dress and need to run about 60 yards each way, tossing the pancake in designated zones.

The Master says: “It was a great day and a great atmosphere, but there are lessons to be learnt! Wear proper running shoes for a start… and maybe don’t opt for the full regalia…
Running in my brogues was not intentional but it was too late to change when I realised, so I went for it fully robed and chained and managed to toss the pancake twice! I was really pleased to get in joint third – and surprised. I survived – although I can’t say the same for my shoes! All good fun and I would fully recommend it for our next Master.”

After the race a wonderful buffet lunch was organised in the Guildhall Crypt.
