The Equality of Arms Campaign encourages and support sensible reform to heraldic convention to achieve equality of the sexes. The Campaign allege that heraldic convention and practice, as governed by the College of Arms, does not treat men and women as equals before and under the law and that discrimination in heraldic convention puts both institutions at risk, it also runs counter to the livery’s diversity charter
The City of London, its Livery Companies and liverymen represent possibly the largest and most active stakeholder group for the continuity of heraldry in the United Kingdom. The College of Arms has been located in the City since its foundation, and continues to play a vital role in the City’s civic and livery traditions.
