The Worshipful Company of Builders’ Merchants is calling on people and businesses across the building materials sector to help spread the word about the financial support available from the Company to those looking to develop their careers.
This new ‘Build Your Career’ brochure is now available to download from the WCoBM website, highlighting the grants of up to £2,000 per person that can be used to support relevant training, education and career development within the sector.
WCoBM is encouraging its Liverymen and Freemen, business owners, managers and people working throughout the building materials supply chain to download and print copies of the brochure and share it throughout their own companies and professional networks.
The aim is simple: to make more people aware that this financial help is available and make sure the grants reach those who could benefit from them.
The WCoBM grant programme is open to a wide range of applicants, including school-leavers, college and university graduates, students and apprentices, people looking to enter the industry and existing employees who want to develop their careers.
Funding can be used towards qualifications, training and courses that contribute to further learning or development within building materials. Grants can also support apprenticeship programmes, relevant learning materials such as computer equipment or practical tools, and costs associated with work experience that supports industry development.
Businesses can also benefit from the scheme. Builders’ merchants and building materials suppliers that meet the relevant criteria can apply for funding to support the development of their teams, providing they can demonstrate how the grant will contribute to employees’ ongoing development.
With career opportunities spanning sales, finance, technical roles, operations, marketing, HR, IT, procurement, customer service, showroom design, driving and many other areas, the building materials sector offers far more career paths than many people outside the industry realise.
WCoBM wants the new brochure to reach people at every stage of their careers, from those considering their first role in the sector to experienced employees who could benefit from additional training or qualifications.
